Youtube Video Picks of the Week - 12 June 2020

This week we have superyachts, a superyacht tender, some less expensive boats, and some drama. The perfect start to your weekend!

First up, we have the final part of eSysman's documentary on the sinking of superyacht Yogi.

In this final instalment of his documentary series, eSysman answers the community’s questions about the sinking.

This was a huge, brand new yacht that should never have suffered the fate that it did.

Was it insurance fraud? A means for a broke ex billionaire to claw his way out of his debt?
Sheer negligence on the part of the crew?
Or all of the above?
Find out the answer to these questions and more in this video.

Aquaholic tours the Wally Wallytender 48X

Wally boats have an incredibly striking design aesthetic and this Wallytender 48X is no different.

It has a windshield that looks like it was transplanted from an F-117 stealth bomber, and it has more carbon fibre than a Formula One car.

This is clearly a boat that was designed to turn heads, and I’m sure it’ll turn yours too when you see it in full detail in Nic’s tour.

It’s more of a Mediterranean day boat or a superyacht tender, so it’s not something the average buyer will likely be looking at. But for what it is, it is really gorgeous.

Dark stormy conditions don't stop the Haulover faithful. Zip Zap Power was there this week to film all the fun.

Just look at that boat playing hide-and-seek behind that spray!

This is the kind of action shot that Zip Zap Power has become famous for.

This weekend it was dark and stormy at the inlet but that didn’t stop the Haulover boaters from smashing their way through it. Spray, dark waves and dark skies were the order of the day and it made for some dramatic footage.

This video features a nice selection of a wide variety of boats – some of which I’d never even heard of. Just brilliant.

A superyacht transporter ship capsized in Palma and eSysman documented it all.

A well-known yacht transport company is literally and figuratively in deep water this week.

It seems like its main yacht transport ship has partially capsized in Palma whilst fully loaded with expensive yachts. This has led to its cargo of superyachts collapsing against one another with obvious damage occurring.

The transport company has blamed the sinking on a faulty generator responsible for running the ballast pumps. But whatever the cause, there are bound to be some mad owners and even madder insurers out there right now.

The transport company insists that the damage is minimal but just based on the available footage, most critics have said the damage is likely to in fact be quite substantial.

We’ll see what happens. But in the meantime, please enjoy this video.

BoatTest.com's test video of the Formula 400 will remind you why you love boating

It’s no secret. I’m a huge fan of the Formula 400 Super Sport Crossover. So much so, that I even featured it as this week’s boat of the week.

The Formula 400 SSC has everything a couple or a small family could want, for endless days of fun out on the water.

Formula boats are part of a particular breed of high performance monohull boats, however what really sets them apart from their competitors is their practicality, and usability. This is a boat that really does do it all, and it does all of it perfectly well. Take a look!

Conclusion

That’s it for this week’s video picks. I hope you enjoy watching them as much as I enjoyed collecting them for you. Watch this space for next week’s picks!
