What have I been up to? An update.
There’s an old saying that goes, ‘A plumber’s taps are always leaking’. The plumber is so busy fixing other peoples’ taps that he has no time to fix his own.
It’s an expression that is so relevant to my business right now and although I wish I’d been blogging more consistently – as I tell my clients to! – I am grateful to have been so busy for the past two years that I simply couldn’t find the time.
So for the benefit of the people who will actually read this – i.e. my mom – here’s a quick update on where things are:
I have some new (awesome) clients
In the last two years, I’ve been blessed to form lasting relationships with some of the world’s biggest and best boat builders and boating brands.
I’m now regularly blogging for Pursuit Boats, Malibu Boats, Axis Boats and Cobalt Boats.
On the parts and equipment side, I am working with Exalto Emirates over in Dubai where I’m helping them write and conceptualise their social media content.
Moving to Canada, I recently met Sideshift, an extremely interesting company manufacturing aftermarket bow and stern thrusters, including stern thrusters for outboard powered boats. They’re unlike anything I’ve ever seen before and I am excited to begin ghostwriting a bunch of their content.
And I'm writing for magazines, too
For the past three years now, I’ve been working with the team at Proactive Publications, a British publisher of several trade magazines that appear both in print and electronically.
It’s a relationship that has been very exciting for me as it’s introduced me to people and companies all over the world, exposing me to all kinds of fantastic and fascinating industries, products and processes, as well as opening my eyes to the challenges and successes of companies faced by companies big and small, globally.
I continue to write for OnboardOnline, too. OO is a marine industry and superyachting news and opinions platform giving a voice to brands, people and organisations from across the spectrum. It’s full of the kinds of news and information about the superyachting industry that you probably won’t find anywhere else.
I’m now also proudly contributing to a new magazine aimed at the ultra high net worth market. I can’t say anything more about that just yet but when I can, I’ll definitely share.
I don't only write about boats, though
Although writing about boats and boat parts is my bread and butter, it’s not all that I do.
One of my longest-running relationships is with Alphabet Social, a Cape Town-based marketing agency for whom I ghostwrite content for a major financial services client of theirs. I love boats and can look at them all day, but writing about finances gives my brain an important break from all of that sea water!
More recently, I also worked with French multinational Ayesa Engineering. They urgently needed my help with developing some pretty meaty marketing material for an upcoming seminar. The project was a success and I look forward to working with them again.
I’m particularly excited about my relationship with DataRemote, a US manufacturer of telecommunications hardware. They’re a young, dynamic, energetic and passionate team of men and women who are an absolute joy to work with. I’ve been ghostwriting a number of case studies and email marketing campaigns for them, with more to come.
